Privacy Policy
This page explains what personal information the Opportunity Hub collects, why we use it, and the choices you have. Last updated 9 July 2026.
Who we are
The Opportunity Hub is run by Africa No Filter (ANF), a foundation registered in Mauritius. Africa No Filter is the data controller for the personal information described on this page. You can reach us about anything here at info@africanofilter.org.
What we collect, and when
- Deadline alerts. When you subscribe, we collect your email address.
- Your account. If you sign in, we collect your name, email address and a password.
- Opportunities and success stories. When you submit an opportunity or share a story, we collect the details you enter, which may include your name, email address, organisation and links.
- Saved opportunities. Items you save are kept against your account.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our systems receive basic information your browser sends, such as your IP address and device and browser type, plus a small number of strictly necessary cookies that keep you signed in and hold your session.
Why we use it
- To run the Hub and give you the features you ask for, such as alerts, saved items and your account. Our legal basis is providing a service you have requested.
- To review and publish the opportunities and stories you choose to submit. Our legal basis is your consent when you submit, and our legitimate interest in running an accurate, useful platform.
- To send the deadline alerts you subscribe to. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
- To keep the platform secure and working. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies
The Hub uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and hold your session. It does not run advertising cookies or third-party analytics. If you choose to use the built-in translation option, Google may set its own cookie to remember the language you picked; you can avoid this by not using that option.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service on our behalf, and only for that purpose: Amazon Web Services, which we use for email delivery (Amazon SES) and infrastructure, and our hosting and database providers. These providers act on our instructions and are not allowed to use your information for their own purposes. We will share personal information with authorities only where the law requires it.
Where your information is held
Africa No Filter is registered in Mauritius, and some of our providers process data in the United Kingdom, the European Union or the United States. Where personal information moves across borders, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and saved items for as long as your account is open. If you subscribe to alerts, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe. Opportunities and stories you submit for publication are kept as part of the public record of the Hub unless you ask us to remove them. We delete or anonymise personal information once we no longer need it.
Your rights
Under the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017, and the GDPR where it applies to you, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, withdraw your consent, and receive a copy in a portable format. To make any of these requests, contact us at info@africanofilter.org. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Office in Mauritius, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and we will revise the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will make that clear on the Hub.
