Idris had spent months speaking with residents whose homes and livelihoods were being affected by the changing coastline. He had collected photographs, interviews and local records, but he was unsure how to turn the material into a project that could reach decision-makers. Through the Opportunity Hub, he found a fellowship supporting young African researchers and storytellers. During the programme, he received mentorship, developed a clearer research method and worked with local organisations to present the findings publicly. The fellowship helped Idris transform his independent research into a community-led archive that residents could continue building.
